Class Description and Syllabus

This class is geared to most students of diverse Bellydance levels, who have had a basic introduction to this dance discipline, and who wish to further develop their dance knowledge and technique, learning the Jamal method of Bellydance structure and movement dynamics.   The student will also be instructed in playing finger cymbals and identifying regional rhythmic patters akin to this dance art.  Learning choreography will also be an integral part of each eight week segment.

Once every four weeks, there will be a live percussionist to accompany Jihan in class, at which time, a reasonable "lab" fee will be charged to cover the fees for the guest musician. (Approximately $5.00 per student).  Moneys will be collected the week prior to inviting the musician to join us in class.  This is a rare and invaluable opportunity for the student to experience.

Class Objectives:

For the casual and/or curious student, and from an esoteric and personal development perspective, the main objective is to have a great time while you learn an ancient dance form that will always be in vogue due to its beauty and for all the benefits it renders to the participant.

For the serious student and professional contender, at the end of each 8 week period, the student will receive a personal evaluation and a certificate of completion, if classes are attended regularly.  This will give the received an opportunity to audition for troupe membership to the Jihan Jamal Egyptian Dance Theatre, Bellyrina Oriental Dance Academy, and/or ADORA World Dance Productions.
